International Volunteer Day
December 5 - International Volunteer Day
Pearls of Africa is proud and honored to involve volunteers in
its operations. Indeed, volunteers are the heart and soul of our
organization. For this reason, Pearls of Africa is proud to join
others around the world in celebrating International Volunteer
Day!
About the Day
"In 1985 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed
December 5 as International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social
Development. The day is promoted by the
UN Volunteers program and provides a perfect opportunity to
highlight the hard work, dedication and valuable contribution
of volunteers everywhere.
Read the resolution UN
Resolution 40/212 that started International Volunteer Day."
POA & International Volunteer Day
In celebration of IVD 2002, and in honor of all of our hardworking
online volunteers, Pearls of Africa is proud to launch our Online
Volunteer Recognition page. On this page you can meet all
of the dedicated individuals who donate their time and services
to help POA.
In addition to the OV Recognition Page, POA has created a special
screen saver that can be downloaded and installed on your computer!
This screen saver encourages and promotes volunteerism in celebration
of International Volunteer Day 2002.
Download the screen saver here.
