Make a Difference Day
October 26- National Make A Difference Day
|
Pearls of Africa joined thousands of other organizations
around the country, on Saturday October 26, to celebrate
national Make A Difference Day. This was Pearls of Africa's
first year to participate, and it did so by partnering with
a local Borders Books and Music store, to collect book donations
for the Children's Resource Library in Kampala Uganda. The
library serves children with disabilities and their families.

Customers visiting the Borders store in Scranton, Pennsylvania,
were asked to "make a difference" by choosing
a favorite children's book to donate to the library in Uganda.
Borders did its part by offering a 25% discount on all books
donated to POA!
The generosity of the Borders patrons truly shone through!
By the end of the day, Pearls of Africa collected more than
$175 dollars worth of new books and tapes for the library!
This moves us ever closer to our goal of 400 books by Dec
31!

and support
- All of the online volunteers who helped make the event possible
- Everyone who donated books and tapes
We thank everyone involved and look forward to next year! Plans
are already underway for Make a Difference Day 2003!
