Children's Resource Library
Opened in November 2001, the Children's Resource Library, located
on the PWD compound in Kampala, Uganda, is a very exciting and
promising project. The library, which now houses approximately
450 holdings (and growing), is a place where children with disabilities
and their families can come, get information, share with others
in similar situations, and discover their dreams and desires.

The library's shelves are stocked with both fiction
and nonfiction books for children, dealing with
disability in some way. Resources are also available
for parents and caretakers, providing them with
much needed information about raising their child
and helping them lead full and independent lives.

The library's holdings include books, magazines, audio
read-a-long tapes, and some videos. In the upcoming year
we hope to develop more literacy training activities in
order to benefit those involved and make the library even
more accessible.
